PARENTAL RIGHTS

Remember that parents are encouraged to actively participate in their child’s educational programming.

A parent is entitled to:

PARENT-TEACHER COMMUNICATION/CONFERENCES

Teachers and parents are encouraged to stay in frequent contact regarding the student’s progress.  This can be accomplished through notes, phone calls and face-to-face conferences.  Teachers are expected to tell about positive work, as well as, areas that need improvement.

Five Ways Parents Can Promote Academic Success

1. Attendance

· Make sure your child is in school, on time everyday.

2. Communication

· Establish a link between you and your child’s school.

3. Informed

· Find out everything you can regarding your child’s academic work.

· Know the dates for progress reports and report cards.

Meet and talk to your child’s teachers.

4. At Home

· Make sure homework assignments are completed.

Check with the teacher occasionally to see if completed assignments are being turned in.

Communicate with your child regarding their school day.

5. Encourage

· Take an active role in your child’s life and work to relate everyday events to academic achievement.

· Reading and writing, as much as possible, at home.
